Find your next coliving space with Codex

Describe your ideal monthly stay, explore spaces with current Coliving.com data, and compare your shortlist in a conversation.

Public search needs no Coliving API key. You need access to Codex and its connection features. Personal booking information requires separate Coliving.com sign-in. Request and pay for a booking on Coliving.com.

1. Connect Coliving.com

If your Codex app offers a Plugins directory, search for Coliving, install it, and follow its connection prompts. If it is unavailable, use the direct MCP connection below.

  1. Add the public connection

With the Codex CLI installed, run the “Add Coliving.com” command below in your terminal. It registers Coliving.com as a remote MCP server.

  2. Check it is configured

Run codex mcp list and look for coliving with the correct URL. Start a new Codex session; in the CLI conversation, /mcp shows active servers. A configured entry alone does not prove a search works, so try the prompt below.

  3. Ask for your first search

Ask Codex to use Coliving.com to find a stay. Public discovery works without Coliving credentials. Use the plugin or direct setup; you do not need both.

The TOML block is an alternative to the add command. Merge it into ~/.codex/config.toml without replacing your other settings or duplicating an existing coliving entry.

Add Coliving.com
codex mcp add coliving --url https://mcp.coliving.com/mcp
Check your connection
codex mcp list
Equivalent TOML configuration
[mcp_servers.coliving]
url = "https://mcp.coliving.com/mcp"

Optional: personal booking information

Run the login command only when you want account tools, then authorize access in your browser. This is Coliving.com OAuth, separate from your OpenAI account or API key. Never paste passwords or tokens into chat.

Optional personal-account sign-in
codex mcp login coliving

Disconnect

Use the remove command to delete this direct MCP configuration. If you installed the plugin instead, disconnect or uninstall it in Plugins.

Remove the connection
codex mcp remove coliving

2. Try your first search

Use exact dates and a currency to help your assistant narrow the search. Change this example to match your trip.

Copy this prompt
Use Coliving.com to find private rooms in Lisbon from January 1 to March 1, 2027, under €2,000 per month, with coworking. Include listing links and tell me which requirements are confirmed.

A successful connection returns Coliving.com spaces with links. Ask the assistant to distinguish a listing’s starting price from the cost for your dates and to check availability before recommending a stay.

Keep the conversation going

3. Continue on Coliving.com

Ask for the listing link for your preferred space. Open it on Coliving.com, review rooms, your dates, the final price, and booking terms, then submit a booking request and pay through the website.

Search results are candidates. A conversation does not reserve a room or confirm a booking. Availability and prices can change, and some amenities or date-specific details may need confirmation.

Troubleshooting

I cannot find the plugin or connector controls

Check that your current Codex surface supports the connection method in this guide. Managed workspaces may restrict installation or require an owner to add the connector. Ask your workspace administrator to enable access; see the official documentation below for current requirements.

The connection exists but the assistant is not using it

Start a new conversation and explicitly ask it to use Coliving.com. Check codex mcp list and /mcp for the active server, then restart your Codex session after configuration changes. Ask “Find coliving spaces in Lisbon using Coliving.com and include listing links.”

I see an authentication or connection error

Check the URL ends in /mcp and matches the one in this guide. Public listing discovery needs no Coliving credential. For personal account information, complete the Coliving.com authorization flow. If it fails, reconnect and try again. Check server health and retain the error message for support, without sharing passwords or tokens.

The connection returns a browser security check

If the assistant reports an HTML page, “Just a moment,” or a browser verification challenge, it may be reaching a site protection screen instead of the connection service. An API key will not resolve that. Share the error, client name, and time with Coliving.com support, without sending credentials. You can search on Coliving.com while the connection is checked.

No spaces match my search

Broaden the dates, budget, room type, or destination one at a time. Ask which requirement excluded the spaces and which details are unconfirmed. No results do not necessarily mean a connection problem.
